The Waterbury Farrel Sendzimir Rolling Mill is the final answer to the need for highly precise, close-tolerance rolled products. Extensive experience in the area has led to the perfecting of these hydraulically-loaded, gauge-controlled mills for a variety of applications.
The Waterbury Farrel Z-mill (Cluster-Type) is the most flexible and powerful of its kind. Used to roll both ferrous and non-ferrous metals, the Z-Mill is designed to make heavy reductions at high speeds. The 20-Hi roll cluster contains 12 rolls and eight backing bearing assemblies. A rigid, compact mill housing eliminates deflection of work rolls and produces a uniformly close gauge tolerance strip. Waterbury Farrel supplies 20-Hi Mills in either reversing or one-way operations.
Waterbury Farrel developed and patented the Sendzimir (Z-mill) in 1938. All patents and trademarks remain exclusive to Waterbury Farrel to this day. As the original and sole developer of Z-mill technology, Waterbury Farrel is proud of its role in reshaping both the rolling mill industry and improving the quality of strip produced worldwide.
Our latest Sendzimir Mill design features the Double As-U-Roll Crown Control and a redesigned housing, eliminating structural weaknesses through optimization by Finite Element Analysis.
Designed for hot or cold rolling of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, these 2-Hi mills are ideal for breakdown, run down, tempering and skin pass operations. All mills are built to customer specifications, with rolls of forged steel, cast steel or chilled cast alloy iron to meet application requirements. Complete lines of accessories for both new and existing mills are available.
The versatile Waterbury Farrel 4-Hi Mill can be deployed as both a non-reversing mill for intermediate rolling and as a reversing mill for finish rolling. Smaller work rolls allow for more efficient material reduction. The larger backup roll positioned against the smaller work roll reduces separating forces and permits the rolling of wider and thinner materials with a more uniform gauge.
Waterbury Farrel 6-Hi Mills provide improved flatness using a work roll bending mechanism and intermediate axial roll adjustment. These mills also provide improvements to the shape of rolled strip, increased reduction and greater rolling efficiency.
Waterbury Farrel Combination Mills allow significant versatility on a single mill.
Waterbury Farrel Automatic Gauge Control (AGC) Systems ensure close-tolerance strip at the push of a button. The system automatically maintains extremely tight gauge tolerances as the strip passes through the mill at up to 1,000 meters per minute.
